It's fair to say that we love our Sushi at Ibizagastro. In fact there's often discussions of favourite foods here and sushi is right up there when it comes to what to eat as soon as the plane has landed on the White Island.
Lucky for us (and you) there's a great selection of sushi bars and restaurants to be found in Ibiza and Sushi Point certainly serves some of the best sushi to be found. Located at Marina Botafoc, opposite Ibiza Town and a stones throw from Talamanca Bay, Sushi Point is a cool modern restaurant and the perfect spot to relax any time of the evening.
The Marina has a great atmosphere and Sushi Point is one of the restaurants that's central to creating this. With a choice of outdoor and indoor seating its perfectly located to watch the world go by and enjoy good food and wine along to the cool sounds that emanate from the restaurants sound system. Our last couple of visits have seen us enjoy fantastic maki, a selection of sashimi and perfect California rolls. You'll often find selection platters available as well and a particular favourite of ours has been the Mediterranean platter, that fantastically fuses Japanese sushi styles with Mediterranean flavours and classic ingredients such as Jamon Iberico - I'm a little old fashioned when it comes to sushi but the mediterranean twist really worked. I love wasabi and love Jamon - I now love wasabi and Jamon together!
One of the really pleasing things about the sushi here is that it looks as beautiful as it tastes. Presentation is often key at any restaurant but when it comes to presenting sushi it really is one of the most important aspects. The perfectly rounded rolls and clean lined presentation on offer here are pretty near perfection in our opinion. There is no place in this world for scruffy sushi and you won't find it at Sushi Point.
The service at Sushi Point is pretty exceptional, it's relaxed but attentive and most of all friendly. We've always enjoyed having a chat with the staff here in between courses and last time I think we even had a short Spanish lesson (we're getting there!).
It's also worth noting the wine list, particularly when it comes to pairing wine with Sushi. The wine list is fairly extensive and covers all conceivable options, there are a great selection of white wines to wash down your wasabi and the only thing you're unlikely to find is a cheap table wine - but you wouldn't want to match your sushi with anything less than a decent drop anyhow would you?
All in all we would recommend Sushi Point to anyone looking for a great meal in one of the islands coolest spots. It’s always one of our first options and the Sushi itself will have you coming back for more - plus if you're rushed or wanting sushi at your apartment, villa or boat, they also do takeaway. Now there's an idea!
